Theatre in Education was introduced in the formative years of the Vidyalaya. Through aids, which are non-threatening and enjoyable, children develop a greater awareness of their bodies, their minds and their capabilities. They learn self help skills and feel empowered. The movement activities are used as an enabling technique to improve their creativity, academic and social skills, physical and mental alertness and for the overall development of the personality.
It is one of the first schools in the country to introduce theatre in education; the foundation for which was laid by eminent theatre personality, the late Shri. B.V.Karanth.
In addition to theare in education, theatre, at the Vidyalaya has been nurtured by the teachers over the years. The Vidyalaya has contributed to the performing arts in many ways. Anurupa Roy, the eminent pupeteer, Nandita Das, well known film and theatre personality, Varun Badda, Siddharth Singh, Poorna Jaganathan, Shahana Goswami, Swara Bhaskar, Richa Cheddha, Aditi Rao Haydri, Ketan Mehta and more recently Sooraj Sharma have also gone on to become big names in the field of performing arts.
